Since its inception in 2003, the LANDFIRE project has employed a wide range of nationally consistent methods in order to produce a large suite of vegetation and fuel and fire regime products for the fire management community. These products have also been found to be useful for many other applications. Over this time, a number of versions of the data products have been produced and distributed in order to implement improvements to the original products and well as account for agents of landscape change that have occurred since the "base" circa 2001 dataset. This presentation provides an overview of the evolution of the project in terms of data products and their applications. It also illustrates the "data flow" process and methods used to produce the currently available versions of the data products as well future versions. Presented at the Fifth International Fire Ecology and Management Congress: Uniting Research, Education, and Management; hosted by the Association for Fire Ecology, Dec. 5, 2012, Portland, Oregon. Part of the concurrent session: LANDFIRE: Data Products and Methods.
