The People, Places, and Priorities (3P) project introduces a collaborative framework for identifying local, all-lands priorities for forest and fuel treatment planning. Built on three principles—People, Places, and Priorities—the approach emphasizes inclusive decision-making, integration of place-based knowledge, and recognition of diverse local values. Through the Meadows pilot in northeast Washington, the 3P framework demonstrated how mapping community values, identifying special places, and exploring treatment strategies can foster collaboration and reveal actionable priorities. This talk will share key lessons from the pilot and discuss how the 3P approach can strengthen forest health planning by grounding strategies in community engagement. Future pilots will refine the framework and expand its application across landscapes.

Fire Lab Seminar Series
The Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory has been hosting an annual seminar series since 1998. Hour-long seminars are presented by Fire Lab employees and other researchers from throughout the world. Seminars cover current research and management about the natural world from a broad range of disciplines, but most seminars usually have a wildland fire theme. The Fire Lab Seminar Series provides a platform for researchers and managers to present their work in an environment that encourages critical thought, the free exchange of ideas, and knowledge discovery.
