n 2012, Region 6 of the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) obtained Inter-LCC Science Funding to support original research and development of decision support tools to further landscape-scale conservation of Greater sage-grouse within and across the four Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCC) comprising the birds’ range. USFWS partnered with Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) to deliver this program. WAFWA convened a panel of LCC, state, and university experts in sage-grouse and sagebrush systems that facilitated the research proposal process to fund the highest priority projects. In this webinar, principal investigators funded through this effort will present project results, discuss availability of underlying data or model outputs, and current and potential application of findings. Projects and presenters: Moderator: Dr. Tom Remington, Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies 1. Sage-Grouse Hate Trees: A Range-wide Solution for Increasing Bird Benefits Through Accelerated Conifer Removal - Dr. Michael Falkowski, Colorado State University; 2. Designing Regional Fuel Breaks to Protect Large Remnant Tracts of Sage-Grouse Habitat in Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah - Dr. Louis Provencher, The Nature Conservancy; 3. Annual Grass Cover Mapping for Greater Sage-Grouse Conservation - Dr. Collin Homer, USGS, Center for Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS); 4. Analysis of Greater Sage-Grouse Lek Data: Trends in Peak Male Counts 1965-2015 - Ryan Nielson, Western EcoSystems Technology; 5. Range-wide Sampling Design for Population Size and Trend Estimation in Greater Sage-Grouse - Dr. Paul Lukacs, University of Montana.
