Rick Stratton, USFS Fire Analyst from the Region 6 & Pacific Northwest Research Station (Portland Oregon) gave a talk to a gathering of fire management officers and line officers April 3, 2015. In this 30-min edited clip, he gives a down-to-earth overview of common questions asked when dealing with fires and how to select the right fire model in WFDSS to answer them. Will the fire reach the town? what if we get a wind event? what is the likelihood of spotting over the river? when will this fire season/fire end? Can we manage with a Type 3 team? If you've pondered these and other questions, you can see how one of the designers of WFDSS modeling tools recommends using them.
