This one-week intensive course provides students with a basic introduction to wildland and prescribed fire ecology, behavior, and management. It is required training for all personnel seeking to become Wildland Firefighters under National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) certification standards. NWCG certifications in S-130, S-190, L-180, and I-100 granted upon successful course completion for first series. Taught by Todd Aschenbach (GVSU) and a team of instructors from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Michigan Prescribed Fire Council.
