Event Postponed! In light of the recent recommendations and direction by both Governor Brown (OR) and Governor Inslee (WA), as well as travel restrictions set by agency partners, the organizers of this event have decided to postpone the Central Oregon Fire Science Symposium until fall of 2020.  They are working to identify new dates for the symposium, so stay tuned.

The 5th Central Oregon Fire Science Symposium focuses on integrating the three pillars of the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy: Resilient Landscapes, Fire-Adapted Communities, and Safe and Effective Wildfire Response.  The Cohesive Strategy has withstood the test of time and formed the backbone of the Governor’s Council on Wildfire Response, but we often forget the “cohesive” nature of this wildfire challenge. How have agencies and communities achieved successful integration of these strategic goals? Through presentations of current science findings, case studies, discussions, and workshops, this symposium offers strategies for meeting the goals of the National Cohesive Strategy through the engagement of stakeholders, cross-boundary management, and the use of the best available science.
