This webinar examines the relationship between climate and pre-settlement fire patterns, using fire history to gain insight into future fire projections. The main topics discussed include the nature of recent variability in areas burned by fire, how vegetation and fuels affect the relationship between climate and area burned, projecting area burned into the future, lessons learned from historical past and the paleo record, and how do we think of fire now in terms of managing ourselves and fire. This webinar was hosted by the Wildland Fire Lessons Learned Center, the Joint Fire Science Program, and the International Association of Wildland Fire.
